Band Profile

Trash Monroe are a five-piece rock band from the Essex/London border.

The goth tinged quintet have produced three EP’s, and have been described by former Melody Maker mogul Mick Mercer as making an “impressive noise” akin to the “Cardigans hung upside down and on fire”.

Recently self-releasing Batesian Mimicry, a six track EP available through the band website and at live shows.

Trash Monroe celebrated the EP launch by playing at Southend venue Chinnery’s, which was attended by over 300 people.

Intertwined with the launch is the Band’s self designed merchandise inspired by the EP artwork.

The band has been showcased on internet radio stations Pheonix FM and Totalrock.com, as well as securing number ones on the AiiRadio internet chart.

Past recordings of the band include a Self titled EP and the ‘Ornament’ EP, Produced by John Fryer, who’s previous work includes Cradle of Filth, HIM and Nine Inch Nails.

Trash Monroe was born in 2003, and after minor personnel changes, 2008 see a solid line up of frontvixen Melany Dantes (vocals) bolstered by the unconventional twin guitar assault of twelve string toting Dave ‘Flea’ Bradbury and Bradley Hurr on six string. The driving, rhythmic heart of the music is supplied by bassist Ken Mortimer and drummer Zak Ballinger.

Performing at a number of venues in London and Essex including the Bull and Gate, The Garage, Madame JoJo’s and the Purple Turtle, Trash Monroe also play regularly at Chinnery’s, a popular music venue which has acted as a springboard for many big name acts.

Fanzine Bubblegum Slut describe the band as “captivating”, with Melany’s heart-torn vocals accompanying a “solid backup of grinding metal riffing with a trad goth inspired sense of melody”, also going on to compare Trash Monroe to Nightwish, but with “a greater feel for a good, earthy hook” and also to Evanesence but with more “balls out power”. The band has also been featured in Alternative magazine’s unsigned section.
